“I was fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of working with Beth from Bloom and Belong to facilitate and teach menstrual cycle awareness lessons for the pupils at Repton Preparatory School. Beth's expertise and support were invaluable throughout the process. She was able to put together presentations and worksheets that were both informative and engaging for our students.

From the outset, Beth gave me the knowledge and confidence to teach this important topic, empowering young people with the knowledge and confidence they need regarding period education. She was always on hand to answer any questions I had regarding the material, ensuring I felt fully prepared at every step.

Beth's wealth of experience and knowledge on all things menstrual cycle and teaching menstrual cycle awareness to young people was evident in every interaction. Her confident and approachable manner made it easy to arrange and collaborate on the lessons. I am grateful for her guidance and highly recommend her to anyone looking to teach this important initiative in their school.”

“Beth was absolutely phenomenal, delivering a session that was not only hugely informative but also deeply inspiring. She engaged our students in such a powerful and relatable way, encouraging them to truly embrace their bodies and menstrual cycles as a source of strength and positivity. The way she linked this to academic success, confidence, and self-advocacy was brilliant.

Our girls left the assembly buzzing with new knowledge and empowerment and with a real understanding of how they could use this information to help them in their lives. Beth has an amazing gift for making these important conversations feel uplifting, positive, and life-changing. We cannot thank her enough for the incredible impact that she has had on so many of our students.”

Assistant Principal, Head of 6th Form

Ibstock Place, London

  • Deliver an annual session to Year 6 girls covering puberty, period products and menstrual cycle awareness

  • Parent/carer joins for last half of session which is a beautiful bonding experience

“We had the pleasure of welcoming Beth from Bloom and Belong to Ibstock last month. Beth delivered an amazing workshop to our Prep 6 girls, which focused on some important aspects of the menstrual cycle.

First of all, pupils focused their attention on the stages of the menstrual cycle, making sure they felt comfortable and confident with the biological stages. This then led to a discussion about various products that can be used during a girls’ period.

This was particularly well done as Beth had brought with her all the products to ‘play with’ and explore. She even introduced a model vulva that was made entirely out of crochet! These were brilliant as they really helped the girls to understand the female anatomy, but also it helped them understand the function and application of the products. The girls enjoyed exploring and discussing, which was a testament to how relaxed and comfortable Beth made the girls feel.

The second part of the workshop involved the girls’ mothers. This was a special feature of the afternoon, as we got to see mother and daughter talk openly about periods and explore how one might feel at different parts of the menstrual cycle. Girls and mothers also had the opportunity to talk with others and work together on an activity which helped the girls get a feel for how emotions can change throughout the month.

To end the workshop, mothers were invited to share any words of wisdom or personal stories; this was truly lovely. So much openness and confidence to share thoughts and feelings, pushing aside the idea that periods should not be discussed.

This was a very successful workshop; having been given the change to talk freely and ask questions in a safe space, meant that the girls left feeling uplifted and confident to talk openly about periods.

We look forward to welcoming Beth back next year!”

Here are some comments from the young people and adults I have worked with over the last few years:

Beth opened my eyes to a completely different take on the magic and power within the female cycle. It was such a positive, empowering and enlightening look at what many times is seen as negative. I hope that this will help my daughter to start her journey on a positive and uplifting note."

“My daughter absolutely loves Powerful Girls Club. In fact, that is an understatement! She has gotten so much out of it and it has been wonderful to watch her grow in confidence and emotional literacy. At home she is much more open about her emotions and feelings towards certain situations or actions and her ability to discuss these with me has improved no end leading to a much calmer and happier environment. She comes out of every session beaming from ear to ear and spends the rest of the week counting down the minutes until she goes back again. I can't recommend this club enough.”

“All of the words used in the activity allowed an acknowledgement and an acceptance that these are valid feelings and symptoms. That in itself was very powerful and allowed our children to know that these are valid. We’ve lived in a time for too long where everything is hush hush, you suffer in silence and get on with it. Beth is just as empowering as Davina McCall talking about and acknowledging peri-menopause, if not more so, as we’re empowering the next generation before the damage of being hush hush is even allowed to start. Also as a mother you feel you should be able to pass down your knowledge and that will be enough. I disagree, the circle gives them so much more and allows them the opportunity to talk freely together about it which they wouldn’t otherwise do in such details. To explore products that we don’t all have at home was another huge bonus.”

“Beth was just incredible and the children loved it. We need more of this in schools as the resources there are still so limited.

I know all the girls and parents attending were apprehensive because it was something new and something we hadn’t been lucky enough to have when we were younger. Are the children old enough? Will it be too much information? Will it embarrass them? Will it make them feel awkward?

Absolutely not.

It prepares and empowers them. It gives them power and control over their own bodies. We need more of this for our children. Thank you :-)”

“I loved how it was dealt with so realistically and positively. My mindset towards periods has become more positive!”

“I hosted the circle at home, and it was so well organised by Beth. She beautifully taught the girls about their menstrual cycles and what to expect each month. I think every girl should have access to Beth’s circles and it was such a wonderful group to be a part of.”

“My daughter has told me that she has enjoyed learning about other people and the way they feel, and learning that others feel the same things as she does sometimes at the Powerful Girls Club. I also know that she has developed confidence within the safe environment and has opened up during these sessions.”

“This club makes me feel free.”

“Best club EVER.”

“I’ve learnt what true power is.”

Girls who attended the Powerful Girls Club

“Hi Miss, I want to thank you for your assembly. It helped me feel seen and understand that what I was going through wasn’t normal. Because of the assembly, I’ve recently reached out to my doctors and I’m getting the help I need now.”

“Thanks so much for your dedicated work in this area. It was invaluable, especially for E*** who doesn’t have access to PSHE classes at school. And even school educated children need to have this safe female space to learn and ask questions. The natural setting was perfect as well. I think you could look into doing these circles online to reach more children.”
